The email:
REFUSE NEW COINS
This simple action will make a strong statement.
Please help do this.. Refuse to accept these when they are handed to you.
I received one from the Post Office as change and I asked for a dollar bill instead..
The lady just smiled and said 'way to go' , so she had read this e -mail.
Please help out...our world is in enough trouble without this too!!!!!
U.S.Government to Release New Dollar Coins
(sorry the picture didnt copy over)
You guessed it
'IN GOD WE TRUST' IS GONE!!!
If ever there was a reason to boycott something, THIS IS IT!!!!
DO NOT ACCEPT THE NEW DOLLAR COINS AS CHANGE
Together we can force them out of circulation..
Please send to all on your mailing list!!!
The Response:
Dear friend,
As a courtesy, I've chosen to 'blind carbon copy' all those recipients of the original communication who had viable email addresses.
A quick visit to www.Snopes.com- generally, a reliable resource for determining the accuracy of these types of forwarded emails- shows that the original email, while alarming, is simply false. Here's a direct link to the article in question: http://www.snopes.com/politics/religion/dollarcoin.asp.
"In God We Trust" is actually etched into the edge of the coin. While it was not referenced in the original email, the actual motto of the Great Seal of the United States ("E Pluribus Unum", or "From Many One") can also be found along the edge of the coin.
Feel free to "Please send to all on your mailing list!!!", as instructed in the original email.
Kind regards,
Clifton Walker
Chief of Staff
State Representative Joe Farias
