Here are some fun facts about Governor Palin's spirit animal: the barricuda. Aside from the italics (my emphasis) and the snark in brackets, the contents of this Wikipedia article (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Barracuda) have not been altered in any way...
"Behaviour
"Barracudas occur both singly and in schools around reefs, but also appear in open seas. They are voracious predators and hunt using a classic example of lie-in-wait or ambush. They rely on surprise and short bursts of speed (up to 27mph (43 km/h)[3]) to overrun their prey, sacrificing maneuverability.
"The larger barracudas are more or less solitary in their habits. Barracudas do not stick around to care for their young [...Bristol? ouch!]. Young and half-grown fish frequently congregate in schools. Their food is composed of fish of all types. Large barracudas, when gorged, may attempt to herd a shoal of prey fish in shallow water, where they guard over them until they are ready for another meal. Large barracudas have been known to eat young barracudas [...or force them to marry redneck boy barracudas in shotgun weddings to score political points. Zing!].
"Barracudas and humans
"Like sharks, barracudas have long had a bad reputation as being dangerous to humans [and wolves...and polar bears...and Commissioners of Public Safety]. As barracudas are also scavengers, they may mistake snorkelers for large predators and follow them to scavenge the remains of any prey left after an attack.
"Being formidable hunters, they should be respected, as barracudas are perfectly capable of defending themselves against humans that harass them [unless those humans are members of the "Mainstream Media"]. Handfeeding or trying to touch them is strongly discouraged[citation needed]. Spearfishing around barracudas can also be quite dangerous, as they are strongly attracted by the wounded fish [like the mortally wounded campaign of Sen. McCain. Palin 2012?].
"There have been isolated cases where barracudas have bitten a human, but these incidents are rare and are believed to be caused by bad visibility. Barracudas will stop after the first bite as humans are not their normal food source.
"Wearing jewelry and other shiny objects is discouraged as barracudas are quite attracted to things that glint and shine [maybe Cindy McCain is a barracuda, too!]."

So both Barack Obama and John McCain decided to take a day off from the campaign trail, stifle the urge to pummel each other, and pay homage at the 9/11 memorial site. At one point they walk far enough away from earshot of the mikes to have a nice, little, private convesation. Wonder how that went...
McCain: "So, hey...you know I was just effin' around with that whole Britney/Paris thing, right? Hell, maybe if you weren't such a sexist, that wouldn't bug you so much, sonny."
Obama: "Sexist, huh? What'd you nickname your wife again? And you realize, of course, that when I said "lipstick on a pig", that Sarah was the lipstick, don't you?"
McCain: "Whatever, messiah! Less talking, more photo-opping."
Here's a little of the raw footage.

I am sure I am one of many Obama supports who are anxiously awaiting a text message from the Obama Campaign about Obama's VP pick. I'm listening to "Talk of the Nation" on NPR and they're talking about this very topic. Thus, my inspiration for writing my very first blog entry. The convention starts next Monday and the news should come soon. I'll be sure to keep my phone by me.

This blog has afforded me the opportunity to mention a topic that has troubled me since I was a child. The issue is this: the color of the Michelin Man. It may not be worthy of the national spotlight, but it does give insight into our national culture. Being that Michelin is a tire manufacturer, tires are the color black, and the Michelin man is made up of tires, one would conclude that his obvious color should be black; not so.
Instead of obeying the laws of nature, Michelin’s corporate identity thinks white is a more suitable color. I know of another organization whose same belief, along with their hate mongering propaganda, led to the death of millions. I’m not saying that the Michelin Man is going to instigate genocide. Instead, I propose that actions like these leak into our cultural subconscious, making us complacent and ill equipped in the fight for equality.

Hello my party peeps! I'm appalled to report that big media wins again. In a ruling given Monday, the judicial system showcased its incompetence by declaring CBS innocent of indecency in reference to the great Janet Jackson boob fiasco of 2004, and therefore, CBS will not have to pay the FCC sanctioned fine of $550,000.
The judicial geniuses that make up the three-judge panel of the 3rd U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals fell for CBS’s preposterously stupid excuse of “we didn’t know we couldn’t do that.” Such a ludicrous remark is tantamount to pleading with your boss not to fire you because you didn’t know that sex with the cleaning lady while at work was frowned upon.
In their explanation for the ridiculous ruling, the court stated that the FCC could not levy a fine against CBS because doing so would deviate from its standard practice of subjecting words and images to the exact same level of scrutiny.
Supporting the argument against human intelligence, a spokesperson for television executives, who has direct ties to the suit, insinuated that the ruling in favor of CBS acts as “an important advance for preserving creative freedom on the air.”
While I’m a huge proponent for artistic freedoms, and I do consider the 1st amendment the big red soda to my Barbacoa taco, I don’t agree that the misogynistic fantasy of having a woman’s blouse violently ripped off of her body in order to expose her jeweled up titty constitutes creativity. If I’m wrong and that’s the case, then someone needs to alert MENSA because my perverted uncle Frank is a savant.
The gross negligence of the court, along with that of CBS, is indicative of our struggling culture. By allowing CBS to hide in loop holes and remain unaccountable, the court has made a complete mockery of our system. The duty of the court is to respect and cherish our rights, not to exploit them for frivolous gain. When we subject our rights to shielding the improper, they become weak, worn and unable to protect us against legitimate threats.

The pundits can't seem to agree. At what margin can Clinton call a win a win? While you might find one or two analysts who peg Obama as the likely winner, but most see a loss in the cards for him. Given her advantages - 16 years of near universal name recognition and his newcomer status, her erstwhile inevitablity, and a former president on the circuit for her - how big of a win would it take to deliver a real body blow to Obama's camp?
Well, what the hey. Here's my guess:
54.5% Clinton / 45.5% Obama. This or a smaller margin can be called an Obama "win". Anything wider is a Clinton "win".
Now, to me Keystone is a beer, Quaker State is a motor oil, and all I can readily recall about Pennsylvania is what I caught rewatching National Treasure a couple of weeks ago, so don't take my word for gospel. This is just one Texan's opinion. What do you think?
